2020 has certainly been a strange and distressing year. As the coronavirus pandemic swept the world, the year's movie blockbusters got pushed aside in a cascade of postponements and cancellations that affected the James Bond adventure No Time to Die, Marvel's Black Widow, DC's Wonder Woman 1984, Christopher Nolan's Tenet and many more. We've rounded up the new 2020 and 2021 movie release dates to give you something to look to forward to.

1. Wonder Woman 1984 (Dec. 25)

Ben Wheatley – responsible for cult British movies like High-Rise and Rebecca– is taking over from Roar Uthaug as the director, with Amy Jump hired to write the script for the sequel because Alicia Vikander liked her writing. Though the 2018 reboot was met with mixed reviews, it was popular enough, and did well enough at the box office, to garner a follow up. So here we are! But what do we actually know for sure about Lara Croft's fourth big-screen outing (and second sequel)?



4. Free Guy (Yet To Be Confirmed)

In the open world video game Free City, Guy (Reynolds) is a non-player character (NPC) working as a bank teller. Thanks to a program developed by programmers Milly (Comer) and Keys (Keery) inserted into Free City by the publisher Antoine (Waititi), Guy becomes aware of his world being a video game, and takes steps to make himself the hero, creating a race against time to save the game before the developers can shut it down




5. The 355 (Jan. 15, 2021)

The 355 is an upcoming American action spy film directed by Simon Kinberg from a screenplay written by Theresa Rebeck and Kinberg. The film stars Jessica Chastain, Lupita Nyong'o, Penélope Cruz, Diane Kruger, Fan Bingbing, Sebastian Stan and Édgar Ramírez. It is scheduled to be released on January 14, 2022, by Universal Pictures.






6. Nine Days (January 22, 2021)


Release date: January 22, 2021 (Sundance Film Festival)

Nine Days is a 2020 supernatural drama film written and directed by Edson Oda. It stars Winston Duke, Zazie Beetz, Benedict Wong, Tony Hale, and Bill Skarsgård. Spike Jonze serves as an executive producer. In the film, a man interviews five unborn souls to determine which one can be given life on Earth.






7. The King's Man (Feb. 26, 2021)

The King's Man is an upcoming period spy action comedy film directed by Matthew Vaughn, who wrote the screenplay with Karl Gajdusek. The film is a prequel and the third film in the Kingsman film series, which is loosely based on the comic book series Kingsman, created by Dave Gibbons and Mark Millar and published by Marvel's Icon Comics imprint. The film features an ensemble cast that includes Ralph Fiennes, Gemma Arterton, Rhys Ifans, Matthew Goode, Tom Hollander, Harris Dickinson, Daniel Brühl, Djimon Hounsou and Charles Dance.
