"Godzilla vs. Kong" Official Trailer is Finally Out, Pick Your Side Now! 💯💯💪
Scheduled to be released on March 26, 2021, simultaneously in theaters and on HBO Max.
After a year of delay, the release of "Godzilla vs. Kong" is finally just around the corner. On Sunday, HBO Max released the official trailer for the highly awaited new film, the fourth after "Godzilla," "Kong: Skull Island," and "Godzilla: King of the Monsters" in Legendary Entertainment's "Monsterverse" franchise. The film will be released simultaneously in theaters and on HBO Max as part of the Warner Brothers coronavirus strategy.
'Godzilla vs. Kong' stars Millie Bobby Brown and Kyle Chandler of 'King of the Monsters' alongside Alexander Skarsgård, Rebecca Hall, Brian Tyree Henry, Shun Oguri, Eiza González and Jessica Henwick. Chronologically, "Godzilla vs. Kong" takes place immediately after the events of "Godzilla: King of the Monsters."
The film traces the story of Kong and his protectors on a journey to find his home. They cross paths with Godzilla along the way, and a destructive, global battle ensues. Or as IMDB mentions it, “As a squadron embarks on a perilous mission into fantastic uncharted terrain, unearthing clues to the Titans' very origins and mankind's survival, a conspiracy threatens to wipe the creatures, both good and bad, from the face of the earth forever.”
The MonsterVerse franchise started in 2014 with Godzilla, where a soldier tried to return to his family while caught in the crossfire of the battle between Godzilla and a pair of parasitic monsters known as MUTOs. The studio followed Kong three years later: Skull Island, set up in 1973, where a team of scientists and soldiers traveled to the mainland of Skull Island to meet Kong, the last survivor of his species. And in 2019, the studio released Godzilla: King of the Monsters, a sequel to the 2014 film, in which Godzilla and Mothra team up to defeat a prehistoric alien named King Ghidorah, who had aroused other ancient creatures (Titans) to destroy the world.
Scenes shown during the end credits depicted "good" Titans helping to heal the planet, a possible second Mothra egg, a few Titans heading towards Skull Island, and ancient cave paintings by Godzilla battling Kong. Also, a post-credit scene showed someone acquiring Ghidorah's severed head, hinting at an alien's possible return (despite its defeat). This seems to be where Godzilla vs. Kong picks up.
The trailer gives a glimpse of the dangerous mission. In it, we see the two ferocious creatures fighting it out as their human friends and foes both contribute to and attempt to stop the calamity. The only question left is who's going to win—Godzilla or Kong? Choose your fighter and see if you're right on the 26th of March.
